Welcome to my site.
I’m so excited that you are here and that you will be taking advantage of the information that I will pass on to you, so you can build your own “What Knots” bag.
I grew up with watching people and being taught many crafty skills from family around me. My sister and I used to love sitting around in an afternoon knitting up toys and clothes or hauling out mums old sewing machine and giving it a go. I admit our first attempts were a bit disastrous (however at age 10, we displayed them with pride).
Through these interactions with family and friends I gained many vintage basic skills – sewing, crochet, knitting, spinning, loom and tapestry weaving, embellishing, rug making, embroidery and macrame. I have developed some, more than others and dabbled in new skills like lace making.
The most important lesson I learnt though, was that you have to practice the art or skill. I didn’t give up even if some were failures. I realised my mistakes and fixed them.
Having a good repertoire of skills up my sleeve, my mind is always thinking about what I can create next. I like to think – “If I were to do … , what would happen”? or “What would it look like if I did this …”?
So, why do I want to help you?
In this day and age where everyone is in a rush and people go out to buy everything, the skills of making your own are dying. My family and friends love to receive homemade gifts and it saves a ton of money making these gifts yourself. The only thing is that it takes time.
What I hope you will achieve
My ultimate goal is that I can encourage you to begin and try out some vintage craft skills, and that for you to, it will become a passion. Making a “What Knots” bag will allow you to try out these skills through each sample.
Jump on board. As time goes by, I will add other crafts. Sign up to my newsletter to be informed and keep coming back to check out what’s new.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
Paula Mallasch

You are an extremely inspirational person, I’m super excited to try out your techniques and I love your mantra of (“I like to think … “If I were to do ………. what would happen”? or “What would it look like if I did this…..”) it gives me hope to continue even if I come across a problem.
Thank you Rachel. Im sure if you have the same attitude you can achieve in anything you want to. Just remember what Henri Matisse, a famous French painter said – “Creativity takes courage” Without the courage to try – you will not succeed.
